Community Supported Agriculture

Purchasing a Crowfoot Farm CSA membership guarantees a direct relationship with how and where your food is being grown and the farmer that’s growing it. It is an investment in your health, your local economy, and the responsible stewardship of our land and environment.

What is a CSA?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture -and it is just that- a direct partnership between farmers and their community members! We like to explain CSAs as one of the original subscription services. Members buy a share ahead of time to receive 20 weeks of farm-fresh veggies from June-October. Paying for all or part of your share upfront provides your farmer with capital in the lean season to purchase seeds, compost, and the many other necessary inputs it takes to feed their community. In return, members are securing their access to a seasons’ worth of fresh, nutritious, seasonal produce picked at its peak and grown by their local farmer, all at a discounted rate.

Free-Choice CSA

  • Our Free-Choice CSA is the backbone of Crowfoot Farm and members always get first pick of what our fields have to offer. Rather than receiving a box of generic, prepacked veggies, our members are allowed to pick and choose the items they’d like each week- this means taking home more of what their families will eat and none of what they won’t! We set up our CSA stand market-style with a full display of produce. There will be a full spread of 10+ freshly harvested, organic vegetables to choose from each week. This selection will ebb and flow with the seasons but a handful of staple crops will be available throughout. There will be occasional limits on items- particularly as they are just starting to produce in the field- but other than that, members have final say in what they eat each week.

As part of your share, we send out a weekly newsletter ahead of your pick up day with what’s on the harvest list so you can meal plan and think ahead about what you’d like. We include some recipes and ideas for how to use the veggies in your share as well as farm happenings and what you can expect to see on the harvest list in the coming weeks. It’s our way of further connecting you to your food and the people/lands that are growing it.

  • Depending on your share size you will take home 6 or 12 items of your choosing each week.

An “item” might be one bunch of kale, two summer squash, one bag of greens, etc..

All members receive our newsletter with recipe ideas and the inside scoop on farm happenings!

Tuesday On-Farm shares also get access to a small pick-your-own plot of flowers and herbs to supplement their share. We ask that you be respectful and only pick one modest bunch of blooms/herbs each week so everyone can have fair access to the plot throughout the season. Thank you in advance!

  • We are excited to be offering two share sizes in 2025!

    Half Shares $500

    • Take home 6 items per week

    • Breaks down to $25 per week

    • Great for 1-2 people- the ideal share for couples or small households who do not cook every night

    Full Shares $800

    • Choose 12 items per week

    • Breaks down to $40 per week

    • Sized for families or households with 2-4 people who cook most of their meals

**Off-farm shares will be charged an additional $25 to account for the time/fuel it takes us to bring veggies to you in Biddeford. Pick ups at Sacred Profane will cost $525 and $825 respectively for half and full shares.**

We strive to provide equitable access to local, organic food and offer payment plans to help alleviate the financial burden of the upfront cost of a share. If you would like to pay for your share in thirds you may do so by sending in two post-dated checks (dated March or April 1st and June 1st) along with your first payment.

We believe that access to fresh food grown in your community is a human right. If you find the cost of a CSA share to be prohibitive, please reach out to us at emma@crowfootfarmmaine.com and we will work with you to find a price point or individual payment plan that is within your budget.

  • We believe in good food for all! The Community Share is our way of helping out our neighbors who otherwise would not be able to afford a share on their own. When you sign up, you may add on a donation of your choosing to the Community Share Fund. These donations will go toward offsetting the cost of a membership for a neighbor. Community Share is community care; if you are able, please consider a donation. It is a simple way to uplift those around us and ensure equitable access to a season of nourishment and healthful food for those in our immediate community.

  • To thank our returning CSA members for their continued support, we are kicking off a referral program for the 2025 season. Any returning member who sends a new member our way, will receive ONE share bonus for the season when the new member signs up and pays for their share! A share bonus is worth an extra 6 items (a $25 value!) and can be redeemed once, during the 20 week CSA schedule. This would increase a half share to 12 items or a full share to 18 for one pick up. Having friends over for dinner? Bringing a big salad to a party? Want to preserve some peak season veggies to stock your pantry or freezer for the winter months? These are some of the many ways to put your bonus to good use!

Members can refer multiple new members but will only receive ONE share bonus for the season. Share bonuses must be redeemed during the 20-weeek CSA period and do not rollover- use it of lose it!
