Crowfoot Farm has found it’s forever home!
For the 2025 season and beyond, we will be growing on our new farm in Lyman, Maine.
About the Farm
Crowfoot Farm is a woman-owned and operated, MOFGA-Certified Organic, CSA and wholesale vegetable farm in Lyman, Maine. We strive to grow high-quality, nutrient dense produce to nourish our neighbors through food and community.
As stewards of this land, soil health is our top priority. Healthy soils grow healthy plants rich in vitamins and nutrients that fuel and nourish us to make us healthful humans! In practice, this can look like intentional crop rotation, a diverse mix of cover crops, keeping our soils covered as much as we can, and using no/low-till methods. Implementing these practices boosts our soil organic matter, feeds our soil food web, and helps us to mitigate the effects of climate change.
We farm as holistically as possible and all of our decision making is done with careful consideration for the farm, our community, the greater ecosystem/environment, and the impact on and longevity of our minds/bodies. All of these aspects are deeply interconnected and we don’t think it’s possible to consider one without the other.
We believe knowing who and where your food comes from is a human right and radical act. We encourage you to ask us any questions you may have about our farming practices. Open conversation and transparency around how your food is produced is one of the many benefits of knowing your farmer!
Who We Are
Hi! I’m Emma Sanchi, owner-operator of Crowfoot Farm. I grew up in Southeastern Connecticut where food, community, and gardening played a large role in my upbringing. I moved to Maine in 2012 to pursue my Bachelor’s Degree in Sustainable Agriculture from the University of Maine. After graduation, I decided to make Maine my permanent home and have been working on various farms in Southern Maine ever since. I started Crowfoot Farm in 2023 and am forever grateful to the community that has supported and believed in this small biz from the start- you all help make this farm dream of mine a reality!
Our Story
In 2023, after years of searching, I found a piece of land to lease and had saved enough money to dive in and start Crowfoot Farm. I was lucky enough to land at Noname Farmstead in Biddeford. There, I produced on 1/8 acre to feed my Free-Choice CSA members and select wholesale accounts. I spent two seasons at Noname before my partner and I were fortunate enough to purchase a farm property right down the road in Lyman. In November 2024, we closed on a home and farm that has been in agriculture for many years before us and was most recently stewarded by Laura of Black Kettle Farm. I feel incredibly lucky to be the current steward of this parcel and grateful for how thoughtfully and meticulously Laura cared for it during her time here. Laura left Crowfoot with an incredible jumping off point for the 2025 season and beyond and I’m excited to keep this land farmed and be able to grow my business here.
Crowfoot Farm gets it’s name from the nickname, Buttercup, that my Noni gave me when I was little. Crowfoot is another name for the common buttercup flower found in woodlands, meadows, and along creeks. Buttercups always remind me of my Noni and Crowfoot is a nod to her constant love, support, and tenacity.
